28.05.2012 The winner of the tender for the restoration of the Church of Odzun is announced

"LevGug" JSC. The Company is obligated to restore and renovate the 5th-6th-century Church within three years. The project is estimated to worth 320 million AMD.

Eight Armenian construction companies had submitted proposals for the Church’s restoration tender, which was announced on March 27. After consideration of the applications in three rounds, the tender commission which was composed of the representatives of the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Ministry of Culture and “Hovhannes Imastaser His Holiness Odzneci” Foundation selected two candidates.

Board of Trustees of the “Hovhannes Imastaser His Holiness Odzneci” Foundation recognized the proposal of "LevGug" JSC as the best.

The restoration of the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary will begin after obtaining a permission to start the construction. The Joint Commission will control its quality and compliance to the schedule, while the construction company will be responsible for general supervision. An agreement with the experts who are entrusted to carry out technical supervision is already signed.

The implementation of the restoration project of the Blessed Virgin Mary church is the first example of cooperation between state and private business sector to revive one of the masterpieces of the early medieval Armenian architecture. Restorers are obliged to strictly follow the science-based project.
